Being out in nature has many great benefits for your mind, body, and soul. From taking a stroll through your local park to spending a fabulous day hiking in wilderness or you can run if you’re crazy like me.
Research is currently focused on green spaces like parks and forests. However, research is starting on blue spaces like rivers and oceans as well. Overall, any nature is good nature so soak it all in!
Here’s all the feel goods:
– being in nature can perk up a tired brain
– sounds of nature are recuperative
– time in nature lowers stress levels
– nature helps replenish our cognitive resources
– nature has the positive affect of increased happiness
– time in nature can help decrease mental distress
– being in nature reminds you that you are part of a bigger picture
– you find connection with others and nature itself
It has also been said over and over that we are drawn to nature because it is where we become balanced as we connect with nature based on an innate drive from our ancestors. See it’s in your blood that you’d rather be in nature than the nasty big city.
So how much time do you need? The jury is still out on this. Some studies say spending a handful of minutes every day is beneficial to others saying you need two solid hours.
Here’s my take on it. Get whatever you can get and make sure to slow down and enjoy it while you are in it. Unplug, don’t look at your phone (unless you’re taking a photo), look for the small things, and find gratitude.
🪴 What’s your favorite reason to go out in nature?
Want to learn more about being out on the trail? That’s where I come in. Let me help you understand the ins and outs of getting out on the trail in nature. I want to take all the knowledge and experiences I have had and share them with you so you can hit the trail with more confidence. Ready for whatever comes around the next turn. I would be honored to be your Trail Coach. We can go anywhere from city parks to state parks to national parks to blm land to national forests and everywhere in between. If there is some amazing nature to be seen, we can do it together one adventure at a time.
