Y’all one of the biggest waste of time is comparing your fitness journey to anyone else’s journey. So let’s not do it. I know it’s a lot easier said than done.
But why do we compare ourselves to others?
Well we are humans so it’s part of our psychological and innate nature. It creates a baseline on where we are in life and how far away our goals and dreams seem to be. But it is when we let our ego steps in that we start to rank ourselves to where others are or are not.
Overall, like everything, there are good and bad aspects of of comparisons.
A few upsides of comparison:
– it’s a way to set a goal
– it can motivate you
– it’s a form of self-awareness
– allows you to appreciate what’s you’ve done
A few downsides of comparisons:
– it can drop your self-esteem
– it can lead to unhappiness
– it can make you set unrealistic expectations
– it can lead to resentment
Remember y’all you don’t know where everyone is along their journey. You could be in chapter six and you are trying to compare yourself to someone in chapter twenty-six.
So enjoy the process. Enjoy the journey. Enjoy the story you are writing. No one else will have the same one you will.
If you are going to use comparison use it wisely and know when it is doing more harm than good.
😎 Have you fallen into the comparison trap? If so, was it positive or negative? What did you learn from it for the future?
