Why I Don’t Drink

I don’t know how many times I’ve gotten horrified looks when I make the statement “oh no I don’t drink.” You’d think I was talking in another language by the facial expressions I get. Then it’s almost always followed by “why” or “l’m sorry.”

We need to normalize people not drinking. It shouldn’t be a shock. It shouldn’t be because they think somethings is wrong. It shouldn’t be weird. It shouldn’t have to be explained. But sadly today it’s not normalized. We can help make this change.

I decided to give up drinking in late 2019. Since then I’ve had two baby drinks, like we are talking maybe 4-6oz at best, and both times I felt horrible for days after that was in 2021.

I always get asked why I stopped drinking. The biggest thing is I didn’t like how I felt for days after drinking. It brought down my whole vibe and I wasn’t firing at my normal levels.

But I also learned the effects that alcohol has on your body. Once I learned these I was like I don’t understand why anyone would want to drink.
– effects your metabolism
– inhibits absorption of nutrition
– dehydrates your body
– effects the quality of your sleep
– can sabotage your muscles ability to recover and repair
– lowers your energy levels

Personally I can’t find a good reason to drink. But to each their own. Just if you do partake in an adult beverage make sure to drink responsibility, hydrate with water, eat nutrient dense food, and focus on good sleep.

If you want a fellow non-drinking friend I’ll be that person for you. I proudly say I don’t drink and people respect it and support it. I hope this for you too!

🥤 What’s your go to when your with friends that are drinking?

For me, and this is the truth, it’s good old water. Yup that’s what I said, water!
