Did you know that starting at thirty you lose 3-5% of your muscle mass each decade. It’s been found that by the time you are seventy you will have lost 50% of your muscle mass!
But there is a way to slow down the loss and in some cases gain back muscle development.
You want to know the secret potion?!?
It’s none other than Strength Training!
That’s right. My favorite subject to talk about. And this is one of the many reasons why!
Strength training is about more then getting physically fit, building muscle, losing fat, etc. It is also about maintaining an active and independent lifestyle as we age.
Strength training can help:
– contribute to better balance and coordination
– helps reduce the risk of falls
– maintains muscle tissue
– maintains muscle strength
– preserve bone density
– reduces risk of osteoporosis
– prevents overuse injuries
– improves sleep
With a list like that it’s a no brainer that you should have a weekly strength training routine. No matter your age!! It’s actually more important as you age.
Drop a reason why you’ll keep strength training as you age. When you have a strong why you’ll keep consistent.
PS: I hear many people say so they can play with their grandkids or travel and see the world.
