Stop the Slush in Your Hydration Pack

Y’all I don’t know about you, but one of the most annoying noises to hear while I’m out running or hiking, on the trail of course, is that slush of water in my hydration pack. You’d think it should be soothing like crashing waves of an ocean. But it’s not! It gets on my nerves so fast.

Good news there is a simple fix!

So, let me share with you how I stop the slush before I head out to the trails.

It’s as easy as one, two, three, four…

Fill Your Bladder With Water
When home I take the water right from the fridge water source. Easy peasy.
When I’m out, as in my camper, I use a small cup to fill the bladder from my gallon water jug. Makes it easier when you really need more than two hands.

Press Out Extra Air and Seal the Bladder
How much air you can press put will depend on how full you fill it. Be careful to not spill the water you just put it in. But doing this will help a lot for the next step.

Flip Bladder Upside Down and Suck Out the Air
This is where the magic happens. Flip the bladder so all the water is at the seal. This will allow the excess air to get closer to the hose for sucking. You guessed it. Now your going to suck like you are trying to get water out of your mouth piece. But you are sucking the air out. You’ll know you’re good when you get a little water.

Pack the Bladder in Your Pack
Strap it in and strap it on and you’re ready to hit the trails!

Drop a 💦 if you’re excited for no more sloshing.
