Give Thanks to Mother Nature

This beautiful planet gives us so much joy and sustenance – let’s give thanks to her this month. Shop at a local farmers market, give up plastic bags for grocery shopping, remove litter from outdoor spaces you come across, and invite friends, family, or community members to join you in giving back to Mother Nature! The cornucopia of beauty, resources, food, shelter, adventure that this Earth provides us. When we are giving thanks for wellbeing, prosperity and our loved ones — let’s not forget about nature too!

Trash Pickup Locations:
My Neighborhood; the main one mile stretch through my hood. Yup all this month was just picking up trash I see everyday on my runs.
I did two Sunday loop collections, one mid-week short section sweep, and the big one for pounds was at the entrance to my community and only one side, that is less than a tenth of mile, to start getting the trash out of the wooded areas. Every little bit helps!

Trash Collected: 163.1 POUNDS!

The Most Common Items:
– candy wrappers
– plastic bottles
– alcohol bottles
– straws
– fast food cups
– nails and screws

The Big or Fun or Weird Items:
– two tires
– front and back aftermarket fenders
– wood pallet
– toilet tank
– bicycle peddle and gears
– Pokémon card
– Monopoly card
– puzzle piece
– random pieces of clothing

Litter Learning Curtsey of Keep Nature Wild:
There could already be 150 million tonnes of plastic litter in the world’s oceans. That’s the same weight as 25 million large elephants. 🐘 If that many elephants stood in a line with their trunks outstretched, the line would be 200,000 km long. It would go round the world five times.

Remember y’all every little bit helps. Spend 10 minutes, look while you’re out on your walk, pick up just a few pieces, nothing is too small.
